Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Harborne and Stourport both now qualify for the national indoor finals at Crystal Palace on 22 January. They join St Albans, the holders, Firebrands, Blackheath, East Grinstead, Welton and Old Loughtonians in this week's quarter-final draw.
Andy Bostock's goal for Harborne 10 seconds from the end of the game was enough to decide the title on a superior goal difference of just one.
Jas Chana, who had expected to be on his way to India with the England squad for the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tournament until its postponement because of the unsettled political situation, scored eight times for Barford Tigers in their 12-3 win against Edgbaston in their opening game of the tournament.
Barford then produced the day's first significant upset when they beat Stourport 4-3 in their second game, with Chana picking up another couple of goals, although he was guilty of missing a couple of penalty strokes which could have been crucial as Stourport fought back from 4-1 down with two late goals from David Knott.
