From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

England completed a workmanlike double over Scotland in two Tests at Lilleshall over the weekend as both teams start their preparations for June's European Cup in Amsterdam.
After beating Scotland 1-0 with a fierce shot from Jane Sixsmith in Saturday's game, the European champions made changes yesterday and looked very ordinary as the interval came with Scotland holding a 1-0 lead. Sue MacDonald, who had threatened danger on several occasions on Saturday, scored from a through ball after good work from Fiona MacInnes in the ninth minute.
England introduced Mandy Davies and Tina Cullen after the interval and with Davies back in right midfield, Cullen busy and the hard running Sally Gibson up front, England ran Scotland ragged for the last 20 minutes.
Karen Brown equalised with an intelligent scoop in the 55th minute. Six minutes from time a good move, started by Cullen, ended with Jane Smith putting England ahead and with the Scottish defence in disarray Davies drove down the right wing with Smith on hand to score her second.
