Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

CAMBRIDGE ARE already sending out warning signals for next March's Varsity match as they maintained their 100 per cent record in the East Premier with a 2-1 win over Cambridge City at the weekend. Their second- half goals came from Julian Costelloe and Thierry Gruslin from Belgium.

With Peterborough only managing a 3-3 draw at Crostyx, the students are now just a point behind with a game advantage.

In the men's regional leagues Fareham, Bath Bucaneers and Edgbaston all lead their respective tables on maximum points with Colwall and Bedford Town doing likewise for the women.

Maidenhead increased their chances of achieving national status when they moved up into third place in the South following their 4-3 win against former National League Gore Court. Maidenhead's player-coach, Mike Williamson, was Wales' player-coach in the Commonwealth Games in the Malaysian heat and humidity a few weeks ago. Saturday must have been oceans apart for Williamson as he battled through the wind and rain to cling on to the points.

However, Fareham 3-1 winners against Herne Bay with goals from Steve Lemon, Owen Dicker and Steve Osborne, who played for Warrington last season, are setting a cracking pace.
