The Netherlands, with a confidence boosting 2-0 win against Germany yesterday, won the Four Nations NCM Tournament here, while Great Britain ended their tournament with a disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Pakistan.
Britain had a brief resurgence on Saturday when they beat Pa- kistan, 1-0, in their final pool game thanks to a 37th-minute penalty stroke from Russell Garcia, who was celebrating his 200th international appearance. But yesterday they were out of touch in most departments.
Britain's coach, Jon Copp, expressed his disappointment at his team's performance: "We have much work to do in the remaining short period before Atlanta. We have the foundation and must now ensure that the team pull together."
Yesterday, after a bright few opening minutes, Britain conceded possession and went behind after 19 minutes when a defensive error by Simon Hazlitt gifted Mohammed Anis the first of his two first-half goals.
A half-time re-organisation, with Garcia moving to centre-forward, looked promising for a few minutes before Britain drifted back to carelessness. Twenty minutes into the half Mohammed Shahbaz got a touch to a free-hit from Rahim Khan.
