From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Tiger Woods insists his life is "a lot more balanced" as he prepares to return to the Masters, the scene of his comeback last year.

The former world No 1 took an extended break from the game following revelations about his personal life in late 2009 and only returned in Augusta last April. He finished an impressive joint fourth despite admitting he was not prepared for it.

"Yes, that was hard," he conceded. "That was very hard, because I wasn't as prepared physically or mentally for the event. I came back to a golf course that I had had success on, and I knew how to play it."

Now, Woods insists he is in a better position psychologically. "We've moved on," he said. "We've moved forward. It's about getting my life in a balance and that's been good. It feels good. My life is certainly a lot more balanced where it needs to be now than it was then."

The American's form on the course, though, has remained at best patchy since his return. Woods has not won a PGA Tour event in 18 months and has slipped in the world rankings to No 5.
