Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club will resume at 9am today – 2pm BST – with Garcia one shot ahead and 14 holes to go.
Play was suspended at 3.10pm local time and called off for the day at 5.45pm with 38 of the 75 players yet to finish.
Garcia, needing a top three finish to move back into a qualifying position for next month's match in Chicago, was one ahead overnight and moved to 15 under par with a tee shot to five feet on the short third.
The South African Tim Clark twice caught him with birdies at the second and fourth, but then ran up a bogey six at the long next to fall back alongside Americans Jason Dufner and Bud Cauley.
Garcia was just short of the green in two on the par five when officials brought the players off the course.
The Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts, also still in with a chance of automatic selection for Europe, moved from 17th into a tie for fourth by going to the turn in a three under 32, but a bogey at the par three 12th saw him slip back to joint ninth.
