The terrible weather that dogged the Open on Friday and Saturday has meant that the tournament will finish on a Monday for only the second time in history.

Good news for fans of rare sporting occurrences, bad news for golf fans now unable to watch the final round due to the minor inconvenience of having to go to work.

Fortunately for all those wanting to discover whether amateur Paul Dunne can pull off a shock win, or whether Jordan Spieth can write his way into the record books by becoming only the second man ever to win three consecutive majors, The Open organisers have provided them with a helpful sick note.

Tweeted from the tournaments official account yesterday, it remains to be seen how effective the note might be in trying to con the boss.
