Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In an event that uses the modernised Stableford scoring system, Love lengthened his 10-shot overnight lead to 12 to finish on 46 points and leave Fiji's Vijay Singh and South Africa's Retief Goosen trailing in joint second.
Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson both limbered up for the year's final major in fine style by coming in for a tie for sixth place on 26 points.
There was also an encouraging finish for Paul Casey who moved up from being in joint 27th place overnight to record his first top 10 victory on the PGA Tour.
A two-under par 70 saw the 26-year-old from Weybridge end on 23 points after a disappointing third-round 75 on Saturday had caused him to slip him out of contention.
In the modified system eight points were awarded for a double eagle, five points for an eagle, two points for a birdie, no points for a par, minus-one point for a bogey and minus-two points for double bogey or higher.
