From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Retief Goosen produced a superb eagle on the 18th hole to leapfrog Nick O'Hern and win the Qatar Masters here yesterday.

The South African made an indifferent start to the day, scoring only a birdie and a bogey on the front nine. He added a birdie on the 10th but a bogey on the 15th looked to have ended his challenge. But a thrilling final two holes, in which he birdied the par-three 17th and eagled the last, ensured a three-under 69 to finish 15 under overall.

Goosen was pushed all the way over the weekend by Australia's O'Hern, who was unlucky not to record his first European Tour victory after a two-under-par 70 for a 14-under 274.

Ernie Els put in a superb performance on the back nine to climb to 13 under, having started the day four shots behind the leaders. The South African collected three birdies and two bogeys in his first nine holes but shot four birdies coming home for a five-under 67.

Richard Green dropped to fourth alongside his fellow Australian Stuart Appleby and Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell, who enjoyed excellent rounds of 66 and 67 respectively on the final day. Last year's winner, Sweden's Henrik Stenson, shot three birdies and two bogeys for a one-under 71 and finished 11 under overall.

Tiger Woods clinched his seventh consecutive title on the USPGA Tour, and the 55th of his career, with a two-shot victory at the Buick Invitational last night.

Two strokes off the pace at the start of the day, Woods eagled the par-five ninth on his way to a six-under-par 66 and a fifth triumph in 10 starts at Torrey Pines in San Diego.

The American world No1 rattled up five birdies and a bogey to finish on 15-under 273, one ahead of compatriot Charles Howell III (68).
