Not having played since surrendering his World Match Play title at Wentworth three weeks ago, Ballesteros, currently 23rd in the European money list which last year he led for the fifth time in his career, has declared an end to what has been a disappointing European season, though he will take part in the World Championship in Jamaica from 17 to 20 December if he is invited.
He has not qualified for that event, which is for winners of selected tournaments around the world during the year, but several special invitations will be issued to complete the 28-man field.
