From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Perry finds the perfect balance
The American Chris Perry equalled the Brown Deer Park Golf Club course record with a nine-under-par 62 to move into a tie for the lead with his compatriot Mark Calcavecchia after the second round of the Greater Milwaukee Open. Perry had two eagles in his career-low round to move into contention for his first PGA Tour win. The 36-year-old started well on the back nine and ended his first half with an eagle at the par-five 18th hole en route to a bogey-free 12-under-par 130. Calcavecchia started the day three shots behind the first-round leader Loren Roberts, of the United States, but eagled the par-five fourth and made four birdies on the back nine. The American Steve Stricker posted a career-low 63 that left him a shot behind the leaders.
