The American, who won the Open in 1995, recently admitted he was drinking after having previously had treatment at an alcohol rehabilitation clinic.
The New Zealander Frank Nobilo, healthy again after mysterious wrist injuries, claimed the biggest win of his career by beating Brad Faxon in a play-off in the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic on Sunday. Nobilo sank a par putt from seven feet at the first extra hole on the waterlogged Forest Oaks course.
Greg Norman regained his world No 1 ranking with his second-place finish in the Spanish Open on Sunday, just one week after he lost it to the American Tom Lehman.
