Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Summerslam will see the new WWE Universal champion crowned as Finn Balor takes on Seth Rollins, while Brock Lesnar makes his return to the ring following a brief spell away with the UFC.

The show will be the first main event since the WWE brand split that saw the roster divided on to Raw and Smackdown in what has seen a new era dawn on World Wrestling Entertainment. Along with WrestleMania, Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble, SummerSlam is one of the WWE’s ‘Big Four’ pay-per-views and will be one of the highlights on the calendar.

As such, most of WWE’s leading stars will take to the squared circle to compete and make a statement in proving they are the future for both Raw and Smackdown, with WWE World Heavyweight champion Dean Ambrose also putting his title on the line once again.

What time does it start?

WWE SummerSlam begins at midnight BST [19:00 ET] on Sunday 21 August at the Barclays Center in New York.

Where can I watch it?

SummerSlam is available live for purchase on Sky Box Office for £19.95, with replays being shown throughout the week.
