WWE Elimination Chamber results: Ronda Rousey throws Triple H through a table after signing full-time contract

The former UFC world champion reignited her rivalry with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, while the first ever women's Elimination Chamber lived up to its billing

Ronda Rousey finally got her hands dirty in the WWE, setting up a feud with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at Sunday's Elimination Chamber.

Rousey, who has been training with WWE for several months after leaving her career in UFC behind for a full-time stint in the sports entertainment industry, first appeared on screen’s at January’s Royal Rumble event.

Going into the Elimination Chamber, WWE teased her public ‘contract signing’ on Monday Night Raw, one of the company’s top weekly TV shows. That almost guaranteed some physicality, and Sunday night certainly didn’t disappoint.

In what was an expertly-delivered segment, it was revealed that Triple H and McMahon – in their role as on-screen villains in WWE – had in fact lured Rousey to the company in a bid to extract revenge after being embarrassed by her at WrestleMania a few years ago. Rousey was part of a cameo with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and left McMahon a little worse for wear after a brief altercation.

Sensing the stitch up, Rousey showed she won’t be backing down any time soon from wrestling’s authority figures when she slammed Triple H through a table, much to the delight of the Las Vegas crowd. McMahon would then nail Rousey with a stinging slap as the trio were left in a stare-down as the matter drew to a close – for now.

It’s rumoured that Rousey will team with Johnson at Wrestlemania in New Orleans in April to take on Triple H and McMahon. It would be a huge coup for WWE to again tempt Johnson back into the ring. His movie insurance and A-list rating means it’ll take quite a bit for the match to go ahead, but it would be a great way to ease the Rowdy One into her wrestling career.

Elsewhere at Elimination Chamber, Alexa Bliss retained her Raw Women’s Championship in what was the first-ever women’s chamber match. As seems to be almost routine now, the women absolutely nailed what was an historic encounter as Bliss went up against Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose, Bayley, Sasha Banks and Mickie James. They had a solid half-hour to put on a very watchable match that sets up a meeting between Bliss and Asuka for the title at Wrestlemania.

Elsewhere, Asuka toppled Nia Jax in their match but paid the price for it thanks to a post-match beat-down.

Matt Hardy claimed victory in a tame affair against Bray Wyatt, while Roman Reigns outlasted the efforts of seven other men in the other Chamber match of the night to earn himself a shot at Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at Wrestlemania.

Braun Strowman, though, had the last laugh. After eliminating five other stars, the Monster Among Men didn’t take kindly to being downed himself and drove Reigns through one of the structure pods.

The Bar also retained their Raw tag team titles after being Titus Worldwide.
