From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Lennox Lewis will not be surprised to hear that David Tua, who boasts 32 stoppages from 37 fights, envisages an early end to next Saturday's heavyweight fight for the World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation titles in Las Vegas.
Tua, who does not expect to get the verdict if the fight goes the full 12 rounds, said of Lewis: "In the past, he seems to be a lazy fighter, he tends to get tired after two or three rounds.
"His chin was very suspect when he's fought guys like Shannon Briggs and Oliver McCall. But I'm looking at the total package, and on how David Tua goes out to accomplish what he's trained for. This is my destiny and I shall be fulfilled.
"I'm not going to be a counter-puncher, which I'm not, and try to be a boxer, which I'm not. If it ain't broke don't fix it, it's pure and simple - it's effective and explosive, that's how it's going to be. There's no secret about my style, I believe in it. It will be difficult to win a decision going to judges' cards.
"The only way for David Tua to win the fight is for David Tua to knock Lennox Lewis out, that's not being over-confident or arrogant. I'm a knock-out fighter."
