A snooker player was left devastated after missing a final black, which meant losing out on earning a maximum break and its accompanying £44,000 bonus.

Thai player Thepchaiya Un-Nooh was one pot away from the cash prize in his third-round tie against Neil Robertson in the UK Championship.

Although his disappointment was plain to see immediately after the miss, the world number 36 was unaware of the money he had squandered at the

York arena.

"£44,000? I wish you'd told me before the black," the 30-year-old said.

"I am so disappointed. I have never done a 147 in a big tournament like this before."

Even Un-Nooh's opponent was sympathetic, as world number three Robertson said he was "absolutely gutted" for him.

"Poor Thepchaiya," he said. "That prize would have meant a lot to him."
