Spectacular second day of Extreme Sailing Series

A spectacular second day of the Extreme Sailing Series regatta on the River Neva in St. Petersburg, Russia, saw triple former champion Leigh McMillan take over the lead in The Wave, Muscat, from Austria’s Roman Hagara’s Red Bull team.
British Olympian McMillan, with crew Sarah Ayton, an Olympic double gold medallist, and trimmer Pete Greenhalgh, overcame some tricky currents to take a six-point lead at the halfway stage of the sixth event in the 2015 series.
In Plymouth, Géry Trentesaux and his JPK 10.80 Courrier Du Leon was confirmed by the Royal Ocean Racing Club as winner of the 2015 Rolex Fastnet Race and was handed the Fastnet Challenge Trophy at a prizegiving which doubled as the 90th anniversary celebration of the race.
It was the Frenchman's 13th attempt since his first in 1977, Trentesaux's performance was exceptional and was achieved despite being over early at the windless start and taking 40 minutes to restart.
