From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

An emphatic win in the 28-mile coastal race by the Argentinian yacht Matador pushed them up to second overall in the TP52 World Championship and cut the lead of America’s Quantum to just one point.

Defending a title it won last year, Matador is being driven by Alberto Roemmers Jr, taking over from Guillermo Parada when winning the fifth and final regatta of the Audi MedCup series in Sardinia less than two weeks ago.

The race also produced a good result from the British entry Cristabella, with ‘Chuny’ Bermudez at the helm finishing second on a line inside the America’s Cup harbour.

In a race which offered few passing lanes, Johnny Vincent’s Pace and Tony Langley’s Weapon of Choice, where former Olympian Stuart Childerley has joined the crew, again just about kept in touch but were eighth and ninth, as they are overall.

The series continues with inshore races on Friday and Saturday.
