From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Gregory has been ill since May and matters are coming to a head at the JJB Stadium. "We have to consider Mike's health and, if it is a neurological problem, stress isn't going to help," said the club's chairman, Maurice Lindsay. "Whatever happens, we're going to help Mike. If he's unable to continue, we want to have a testimonial for him against his old club, Warrington."
Widnes have signed two more players as part of their continuing battle against relegation from Super League. The Vikings, who still need to win one more match to be safe, have brought in Sala Fa'alongo from the Manukau club in New Zealand.
The 26-year-old can play second row or centre and Widnes' coaching consultant, Frank Endacott, says he could come straight into the side for the game at Wakefield on Sunday.
Widnes have also signed the former Orrell winger, Jon Whittle, for the rest of the season. Whittle played one first team game for Wigan last season. He is a free agent and has been signed as cover for the outside backs.
Two Bradford players have been cleared to continue playing their part in the champions' run-in toward the Super League play-offs. Leon Pryce was placed on report for allegedly kicking out in the tackle and Stuart Fielden likewise for a suspected high tackle on Jason Smith during Monday's victory at Hull. However, both players have been told that they have no case to answer.
