Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Sam Tomkins was in brilliant form for Wigan yesterday, bagging a hat-trick of tries in a 46-4 demolition of Castleford. Pat Richards and Josh Charnley also scored a couple apiece as the Warriors hit their best form of the season so far.

Cas held a minute's silence in memory of Robbie Millward, the 19-year-old son of their coach, who died last weekend.

Leeds proved far too strong for Widnes, winning 44-16 with two tries each to Rob Burrow, Ben Jones-Bishop and Ryan Hall. Widnes remain bracketed at the foot of the table with London Broncos, who also had their fourth defeat of the season, 30-16 at home to Huddersfield, for whom Danny Brough scored one try and made another two.

Bradford staged a return to form at Belle Vue on Saturday night, beating Wakefield 36-18. The lead changed hands five times before the Bulls took control, Elliot Whitehead scoring a hat-trick of tries and Ben Jeffries creating four with his kicking game.

There were two thrillers on Friday. St Helens were given a dose of their own medicine when the Catalan Dragons came back from an 18-point deficit. Vincent Duport brought the scores level after the final hooter with his second try of the game and Scott Dureau added the difficult conversion for a 34-32 win that preserved the Catalans' perfect record.

It was almost as exciting at Salford, where a last-minute Daniel Holdsworth penalty clinched a 24-22 win for the City Reds over Hull. Salford led early through two Ashley Gibson tries, while Brett Seymour crossed twice as Hull worked their way into what looked like a winning position.
