From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Faced by a choice between Leeds and Wigan, Warrington opted for the Rhinos. "But only after a great deal of consideration," stressed their chairman, Steve Broomhead.
Their coach, Tony Smith, is a trenchant critic of the innovation, now in its third year, and refused to have anything to do with last night's proceedings. His captain, Adrian Morley, was less dismissive. "It gives an advantage to the team that finished top, so I think it's a good thing," he said. The Leeds' coach, Brian McDermott said: "Warrington probably did what they had to do."
Leeds progressed to next weekend by virtue of their 24-18 win at Huddersfield on Friday night. The other match from which the winner will go to the grand final at Old Trafford is between St Helens and Wigan on Saturday – a rematch of the first round play-off, which Saints won.
