From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Catalan Dragons have become the fourth Super League club seeking a new coach for next season following Kevin Walters' decision not to take up the option of a third year with the club. The former Australian stand-off announced his departure after a meeting with the Catalans' chairman, Bernard Guasch.
"The Dragons are a great club with good people involved and I look forward to finishing off the season with some good results," said Walters, who coached the Catalans to within one match of an Old Trafford Grand Final last year. But this season has been little short of a disaster, with an injury-hit squad winning just two Super League matches and standing four points adrift at the foot of the table.
"I understand Kevin's decision, but I'm disappointed for him," said Guasch, who has been outspokenly critical of some of the team's displays this season. "He's a great man and was very unlucky this season."
Walters' successful predecessor, Mick Potter, is still without a job after announcing that he is leaving St Helens, stoking theories that he could be attracted back to Perpignan.
