March has broken his wrist in three places in training. Already banned for three matches after being sent off for striking in the final game of last season – which saw Wakefield to safety – he will now miss the early rounds of Super League.
As he is the only specialist hooker at the club, his absence could force Wakefield's new coach, Peter Roe, into the transfer market.
Hull hope to sign the former Bradford and Leeds wing or centre, Graham Mackay, to complete their back division. The Australian, 33, had been planning to retire after completing his stint playing rugby union with Leeds Tykes in May.
