From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Warrington surrendered the leadership of Super League with a shock home defeat by Hull FC. The result was all the more unexpected after the Wolves had led by 10 points early in the game through tries from Joel Monaghan – set up by the returning Matt King – and Rhys Williams.

But Hull completed an excellent Easter by following up their derby victory by eventually winning 24-10 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. Hooker Danny Haughton started the come-back, Kirk Yeaman weighed in with two tries and Will Sharp with one.

Wigan were a long way from their best at Wakefield, but still won by a comfortable 26-0. Sam Tomkins was the star man at full-back, with involvement in three tries, but there was little sign of the inspiration that saw the Wildcats fight back to beat Castleford on Good Friday.

Danny McGuire made his first appearance of the season for Leeds and gave them a definite boost when he came off the bench against Crusaders. Keith Senior was the other vital element in the 34-16 win with his two tries, as Crusaders proved to be another side who could not follow up a shock success – in their case against Huddersfield – with another big performance.

Hull KR got a much-needed win, but they left it late before getting on top of Harlequins. The game was tied at 24-all until late tries from Scott Murrell and Ben Fisher, plus two goals and a drop-goal from Michael Dobson, saw them home.
