From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ryan Bailey and Carl Ablett were both placed on report during Friday's tempestuous loss to Wigan, but Bailey has escaped with a caution for raising his knee in the tackle.
Ablett faces a charge of reckless use of the forearm at the League's disciplinary hearing, but his coach, Brian McClennan is confident he too will be available. "We think we've got a good case," he said.
That case is strengthened by the acting Wigan coach, Shaun Wane, saying he did not see much untoward about the foul.
"I thought that was good and hopefully the judiciary will take that on board," McClennan said. With Ali Lauitiiti and Greg Eastwood already ruled out, the loss of another forward would be a major blow to the Rhinos' hopes.
Saints coach, Mick Potter, has formally ruled Kyle Eastmond out of contention, although Matt Gidley's likely return could cost Saturday's match-winner at Warrington, Jamie Foster, his place.
The Catalan Dragons have been given a boost for their semi against Warrington on Sunday by Jamal Fakir's about-turn over his plans to switch codes with Castres.
The Dragons' coach, Kevin Walters, is expected back in France on Thursday, after compassionate leave in Australia following the death of his father.
