From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The former Hull utility back Craig Poucher, who rejected a move to London Broncos after flying 12,000 miles to their training camp, has joined the National League One club Hull Kingston Rovers.
The move means the 22-year-old, who was released by Hull after four years at the Boulevard, will drop out of Super League but will achieve his aim of staying in the city.
"I now have the chance to play first-team football regularly," he said. "That's what I want and I am also playing in Hull – it's perfect." Hull KR's coach, Steve Linnane, said: "This is a very good signing for us. Craig is a quality player who had been chased by several clubs."
Poucher faced an uncertain future after he twice rejected a deal with the Broncos, the second time after flying to Sydney to join them for pre-season training. "I had time to think on the plane and, when I arrived, I just knew the move to London wasn't for me," he said.
