Noble is staying not moving to Knights, say adamant Bulls
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Bradford and Great Britain coach, Brian Noble, continues to be linked with the forthcoming vacancy at the Newcastle Knights, despite his current club's strenuous denials.
Noble is on the Knights' wanted list for 2007, when Michael Hagan will leave them to take over from the former Bulls coach Brian Smith at Parramatta. But Bradford remain adamant he will be staying with them. "I sat down with Brian this morning and he absolutely refutes having had any contact with the Knights," the club's chief executive, Gareth Davies, said. "He has made no secret that one day he would like to work in warmer climes, but he is contracted this year and next year with us."
These are unsettling times for the Super League champions, with almost half a team already having moved on and their chairman, Chris Caisley, standing down after the World Club Challenge against Wests-Tigers on Friday. To lose Noble as well would be seen as one change too many.
Yesterday, he was concentrating on this week's date with the Australian champions at Huddersfield, with doubts over Paul Deacon and Lesley Vainikolo.
The Tigers flew in yesterday without Shane Elford and Ben Reynolds, both of whom were injured in their warm-up match in Gunnedah, but with their scrum-half, Scott Prince, promising Bradford a stiff test. "Bradford are a big, physical side, so it's going to be tough, but we haven't come all this way to lie down and let them win," he said.
Harlequins RL have appointed Rob Purdham, as club captain.
