Mason Caton-Brown at the treble in Wakefield win while Salford brush aside Widnes

Mason Caton-Brown scored his first hat-trick for Wakefield while Craig Huby celebrated his 300th career appearance with a try as Trinity came from behind to put an end to a run of three successive defeats with a 30-10 win against Catalans Dragons.

Trinity's victory, completing a season's double having won 38-18 in Perpignan earlier in April, leapfrogs them above their opponents in the Betfred Super League table.

Against the run of play the West Yorkshire side edged into an 8-6 half-time lead through tries two tries in three minutes just before the break, then added four more second-half touchdowns against a Dragons side three times reduced to 12 men.

Caton-Brown and Ben Jones-Bishop scored for the hosts after the Dragons had Fouad Yaha yellow-carded.

The French side, who had hitherto dominated the opening stanza, had centre Vincent Dupont to thank for their only try.

The second half began with Wakefield extending their lead through another Caton-Brown try but Yaha, just back on, got a score back before the former London Broncos and Salford back completed his treble.

Jones-Bishop added a spectacular 75-metre interception try before Huby completed the scoring.

Elsewhere, Ben Murdoch-Masila scored two tries as Salford moved back into the top four of the Betfred Super League with an impressive 30-10 victory over bottom club Widnes.

The in-form second rower - the Red Devils' top try-scorer this season - touched down in both halves for Ian Watson's men at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Inspired by half-backs Michael Dobson and Robert Lui, Salford withstood a second-half Vikings fightback before finishing the game strongly.

It took 21 minutes for the deadlock to be broken as Murdoch-Masila charged over from close range and Dobson added the conversion.

The home side doubled their lead five minutes later when centre Kris Welham, who just seconds earlier had received medical treatment after a crunching tackle, kicked to the corner and Greg Johnson won the race for the ball to touch down. Dobson again converted brilliantly from the touchline.

Widnes, who beat St Helens 16-14 in their last outing, created a couple of chances before half-time but stand-off Joe Mellor was tackled onto his back before his half-back partner Tom Gilmore narrowly failed to get on the end of a kick to the in-goal area.

However, Gilmore had better luck three minutes after the restart as he exchanged passes with Chris Houston before scoring in the corner. Gilmore added the conversion himself from the touchline to make it 12-6.

Salford's response was almost immediate as stand-off Lui skilfully kicked the ball off the side of his right foot and it was taken on the full by an alert Niall Evalds, who touched down. Dobson added his third conversion to make it 18-6.

The visitors, who were looking for back-to-back wins for the first time this term, gave themselves hope when winger Patrick Ah Van did well to get the ball down in the corner but Gilmore was unable to add the conversion.

Salford kept Widnes at arm's length with a Dobson penalty goal 12 minutes from the end to make it 20-10 before Murdoch-Masila barged in for his second try, again converted by Dobson to seal victory.

With time almost up, Salford added another try through centre Jake Bibby which Dobson was unable to convert.
