New Zealand Test centre Jamahl Lolesi's career could be over after being left out of Huddersfield's roster for the coming season. Lolesi has not been allocated a squad number, following major back surgery over the winter.
"He can't play or train fully," said the Giants' managing director, Richard Thewlis. "Time is his only healer and even then he has no set date when he will be ready to go again, if at all."
The 29-year-old New Zealander is helping out in the club's offices during his enforced lay-off. He still has a year left on his contract, although there must be severe doubt now about his ability to fulfil it.
He has been with Huddersfield since 2007, scoring 27 tries in 82 appearances as a regular in the side that has achieved so much in that time. He was limited to 15 games last season.
