Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Warrington kept pace with Wigan at the top of Super League as Matt King and Ryan Atkins gave Bradford a second-half savaging. The Wolves' left-wing partnership shared three quick tries to blow apart what had been the tightest of contests.
That was despite Atkins being awoken at 6.30am on match day for a random drug test. His coach, Tony Smith, says he will be taking up the issue of that timing with the Rugby League. "We came through it, but I'll be having my rant elsewhere," he said.
Bradford edged a low-scoring first half. They took the lead after 23 minutes when Chris Riley fumbled Matt Orford's high kick and, from the subsequent possession, their captain, Andy Lynch twisted over from close range. The Wolves' reply was inspired by a powerhouse run from their captain, Adrian Morley. A quick play-the-ball and a scamper from Mickey Higham set up Richie Myler and Chris Bridge's kick put Warrington ahead. The lead lasted until just before half-time, when David Solomona was penalised for a high tackle and Orford's pass sent Paul Sykes over.
Solomona's value as a handler of the ball came to the fore in the second half. His cut-out pass to King was perfection and his to Atkins was equally good.
Atkins then figured prominently in the slick handling move that sent King over. King returned the compliment with a storming break to release Atkins and the game was effectively over. A Michael Monaghan solo try and drop goal stretched the margin before King's second rounded off a superb effort.
