From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

After Saturday's third Test against New Zealand at the JJB Stadium in Wigan, the Great Britain badge will be worn only on overseas tours, the next of which is projected for 2011. World Cups and other tournaments will be contested by England and whichever of the other home nations qualify.
"Every British player dreams of getting that Great Britain shirt," said Jones-Buchanan. "It would mean a hell of a lot to me, just one appearance."
With Great Britain 2-0 ahead in the best-of-three series coach Tony Smith has also brought the Hull centre Kirk Yeaman and the Huddersfield winger David Hodgson into the squad. James Roby, who missed the 44-0 win in the second Test on Saturday, is available again after the birth of his child and Jon Wilkin is recalled. Kevin Sinfield and Sam Burgess are the players left out of the 20.
Sinfield has been told he will continue as Leeds captain by the club's new coach, Brian McClennan. "Kev Sinfield has impressed me very much and he will be our captain," said the former Kiwi Test coach, who started work as Smith's successor at Headingley this week.
