Humberside derby back on
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The fixture, which attracted more than 14,000 last time, will go ahead at the KC Stadium on 8 January. Rovers had initially refused to play because they were unhappy with their share of the proceeds.
The match is held in honour of the former Great Britain captain, Clive Sullivan, who played for both clubs and whose widow, Ros, will decide which charity should benefit from the extra £1 that will be charged. The match is likely to mark the debut of Scott Murrell, the stand-off or loose forward who has signed for Rovers after being released by Leeds.
The Warrington scrum-half, Jamie Durbin, has joined Rovers' National League 1 rivals, Doncaster. Durbin, who had spells on loan with Widnes and Rochdale last season, was also a target for Sale, having played rugby union for England Under-16s. "Jamie had other options in league and union, but was excited by the potential Doncaster offers," the club's coach, St John Ellis, said. Durbin has agreed a one-year, part-time contract, with a view to a full-time deal for 2007, if the renamed Lakers make the anticipated progress.
Sale have challenged Salford to a cross-code game in the new year. The Sharks beat St Helens in a similar venture, with one half played under each set of rules, three years ago.
"I got into a bit of banter with the Sale coach, Kingsley Jones," Salford's director of rugby, Steve Simms, said. "I was saying that Salford are the best rugby team in Manchester and he said Sale were."
The Australian club, Cronulla, have fined their forward, Hutch Maiava, A$10,000 (£4,300) for punching a team-mate in training.
