Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Webster, who is due to have surgery on a hip injury that has so far kept him out for ten weeks, says he is determined to play again this year. Rovers have given him a two-season contract regardless.
"Jake's decision is a tremendous boost for the club," said Rovers' coach, Justin Morgan. "He has already shown that he is one of the best centres in the game and I believe there is more to come from him."
The Co-operative Championship leaders, Featherstone, have signed the Bradford centre, Duane Straugheir, on loan for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, Harlequins have become the first sporting club in the country to announce they have banned vuvuzelas from their ground.
The club has taken action after a number of supporters brought the plastic horns, popularised by the football World Cup in South Africa, to the Quins' home clash with Leeds 10 days ago.
"Vuvuzelas completely block out the sound of cheering and singing," said the club's chief executive, Paul Blanchard.
John Kear is set to turn down the Catalan Dragons and stay on as coach of Wakefield.
Kear was the Catalans' first choice to succeed Kevin Walters next season.
