From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Castleford's in-form prop, Craig Huby, has agreed a new contract to keep him at the club for another three years. Huby is already the Tigers' longest-serving player, having made his debut as a 16-year-old in 2003.

He has produced his best rugby yet during Cas's unbeaten start to the season and, with his current deal due to run out at the end of the year, the club has moved quickly to tie him down.

"He'll be the cornerstone of our pack for many years," said his coach, Terry Matterson.

Joe Mellor is in line to make his second debut in a week at Huddersfield tonight. The Wigan half-back has been recalled from his loan at Harlequins, for whom he made his first appearance against St Helens last weekend.

Mellor goes straight into the squad for the Galpharm because of an injury to Paul Deacon. As well as long-term injuries to Pat Richards and Stuart Fielden, Wigan are also without the suspended Joel and Sam Tomkins, plus Martin Gleeson, whose future with the club remains shrouded in uncertainty.
