Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The former Great Britain captain and coach was brought on board in May after four years out of the game to assist Gary Mercer after Castleford's dismal early-season form saw them slump to the bottom of Super League and sack their coach, Graham Steadman.
In his time at The Jungle, however, Cas have won one game and remain in last place. Hanley's legal representatives and the club were preparing a joint statement last night, but his departure will strengthen the theory that Neil Kelly, who was sacked by Widnes on Sunday, could be on his way to Castleford.
Although Hanley was hired for the rest of the season, a joint statement from him and the club last night said he had "completed his analysis. He has fulfilled his commitments to the club and feels that they are fully aware of what is required for Super League survival".
Widnes have confirmed that Stuart Spruce will become their caretaker coach following the weekend sacking of Kelly.
Spruce, who had two spells as a player with his home-town club, returned as assistant coach this season. He will be in charge for the first time at Huddersfield on Sunday as Widnes look for a permanent successor.
