Halifax happy to bank on the speed of White for coming season
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Paul White, one of the fastest players in Super League, is to drop down a division in an attempt to show that he still has what it takes.
The 27-year-old utility back, released by Salford after an injury-hit 2009, has joined Halifax of the Co-operative Championship on a one-year contract. The former Huddersfield and Wakefield player was Salford's leading scorer in their promotion season in 2008, but failed to make an impact last year after suffering a serious knee injury.
White previously had a spell on loan to Halifax in 2007 and is expected to make his second debut in Eorl Crabtree's testimonial match at Huddersfield on Sunday.
"Paul has speed and he knows his way to the line," said the Halifax chief executive, Graham Clay. "He was looking for an opportunity to prove his fitness and we are very happy to provide him with that."
