At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Bradford Bulls reclaimed top place in Super League yesterday while the bottom club Huddersfield-Sheffield recorded only their third victory of the season, thanks to an amazing comeback against Warrington.
The former Wigan winger Rob Smyth made a remarkable debut for Warrington, scoring four tries in the opening 24 minutes as they led 20-0, but finished on the losing side after an astonishing collapse. The Giants pulled a try back before the interval through Dale Cardoza and scored 38 points without reply in the second half to win 44-24.
Bradford were given a fright by Wakefield before a late try from the substitute Leon Pryce helped them secure them a 30-20 win. With the full-back Stuart Spruce touching down twice in the first 15 minutes to help the Bulls to an 18-point lead, another big score was on the cards. But the home side fought bravely and midway through the second half were only four points adrift after Tony Tatupu scored his second try and the winger Paul Sampson raced 70 metres for an interception score.
But Bradford claimed their 16th victory of the season through Pryce's late score and Henry Paul's fifth goal.
A drop goal from the Salford winger Martin Offiah sealed a dramatic 27-26 win to condemn Halifax to a seventh defeat from their last eight games. Halifax led 20-18 at the break but the Reds forged ahead through a Jason Nicol try and two more Steve Blakeley goals. Halifax's Oliver Marns's late try levelled the scores only for Offiah to come up with his one-pointer.
