Full-strength Leeds look to extend lead over Bulls
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Daryl Powell, the Leeds coach, has the luxury of a virtually full strength squad for the visit of Hull to Headingley this evening that could put the Rhinos five points clear at the top of Super League. Bradford will have two games in hand, but it would still be an enviable position for Leeds, with the Yorkshire neighbours scheduled to meet next weekend.
Only Chev Walker (shoulder) is ruled out, with even the second-rower Matt Adamson in line to play for the first time since the Challenge Cup final, subject to medical advice on the facial injuries he defied in order to play in Cardiff.
Hull, despite a heavier injury toll, have hung on to third. They call up the former Leeds Academy prop Glen Donkin in place of Steve Craven (Achilles tendon).
Huddersfield could throw the full-back Paul Reilly straight in for his first senior game since suffering a double leg fracture in August against Bradford tomorrow. The Bulls will miss Leon Pryce (suspended), with Karl Pratt likely to fill in at stand-off.
Castleford hope to enlist Jon Hepworth, who turned down the chance to sign for them at 16, at the second attempt when the Leeds hooker or half-back makes his debut on loan against Widnes, who expect to be without Steve McCurrie (groin) while Stuart Spruce (calf) and Marvin Golden (dead leg) are doubtful.
