Flanagan returns home for spell at Saints
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Mark Flanagan is coming home to resume his Super League career with St Helens. The former Wigan back-row has spent the last two seasons with Wests Tigers in Sydney, but he has now agreed a contract with Saints for 2012 and 2013.
"I coached Mark previously at Wests Tigers," said Saints' coach, Royce Simmons. "He is a very good young British player who will have benefited from his time in the NRL."
Adrian Morley must miss Saturday's Challenge Cup quarter-final against Wigan because of the head injury that has kept him out of Warrington's last three games.
"Adrian is not quite ready," said his coach, Tony Smith. "We are being very cautious with him."
The Wigan prop, Stuart Fielden, has declared himself fit and desperate to play in the tie. The Test front-rower has managed just one game this season, after knee surgery, and was included in last weekend's squad but coach Michael Maguire is undecided about bringing him back.
Harlequins have re-signed their former Wigan back Chris Melling for two more seasons. Barrow face a six-point deduction for breaching last season's salary cap.
