Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The third round of the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Challenge Cup went according to the formbook yesterday. Only Castleford Lock Lane and neighbouring Redhill were close to causing upsets.

Two tries in the last six minutes by Peter Green and Billy Conway helped Doncaster to a 26-14 win over Lock Lane at the Jungle. The amateur side threatened an upset when, with the score at 14-14, Lee Hughes had a touchdown disallowed 10 minutes from time.

Chorley, victims of Woolston 12 months ago, were given a scare by Redhill before a 64th-minute Wayne Blower try sealed a 10-2 win.

York, beaten twice by amateur opposition in the last seven years, chalked up their first win of any kind for 11 months in convincing fashion with a 42-0 victory over Milford at Headingley.

French club St Gaudens went into tonight's fourth-round draw after a 24-0 win at Keighley, but Toulouse lost 38-12 at Workington.
