Crusaders move for Martin and Witt

The Welsh Super League club, Crusaders, have added two more experienced Australians to their squad for next season.

The Wrexham-based side have signed the Wakefield centre, Tony Martin, and Michael Witt, a half-back who is returning to rugby league after a spell in union with Otago. Martin, a prolific goal-kicker, has also played for the New Zealand Warriors, the London Broncos and Melbourne. Witt was among his team-mates at the Warriors and has also played for Parramatta and Manly.

Crusaders, who are rebuilding after their relocation to the Racecourse Ground, are also being linked with the Australian Test forward, Willie Mason, and the second-rower, Weller Hauraki, who has been released by Parramatta – although it looks like Mason has slipped through their fingers. The fiery front rower, who is still best known in this country for flooring Stuart Fielden and Sean Long during Great Britain's last win against Australia in 2006, is instead expected to join Melbourne Storm.
