Castleford to give Sargent his stripes
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Tigers have succeeded in getting a work permit for Mitchell Sargent, the prop they have signed on a two-and-a-half-year deal from the Newcastle Knights. He will arrive next week and could make his debut against Wigan next Sunday.
Cas are releasing Tom Haberecht, who joined them on a one-year contract at the start of this season, but who has made only five first-team appearances, three of them as a substitute. The club had hoped to obtain an import quota exemption for Haberecht, because of his British antecedents, but have failed to do so.
Both St Helens and Bradford are delving deep into their reserves for tonight's game at Knowsley Road. With Jason Cayless and Chris Flannery joining the list of injured, Saints' coach, Daniel Anderson, has named the 18-year-old part-timer, Gareth Frodsham, and another teenage forward, Sam Thompson.
The Bulls have called up the hooker, Keal Carlile, and the full-back, Kieran Hyde, for possible debuts. Among more experienced players, he has Semi Tadulala and Chris Feather in line to return to a side that has lost its last three games.
Aaron Gorrell will return at hooker for the Catalan Dragons, at home to Wigan tomorrow. The same evening, Jamie Peacock will return for Leeds at Harlequins after recovering from an infected arm. Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook could make his comeback for Quins, but in-form winger, Rikki Sheriffe, has a leg injury.
