Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Australian saw his side win promotion by beating Whitehaven in the National League One Grand Final on Sunday, but had already admitted he did not expect to be kept on by the Tigers. He is likely to have that suspicion confirmed this week, with a number of big names from both sides of the world queuing up for his job.

"There is quite a lot of interest from some well-known names and I'm sure there will be others," the club's chief executive, Richard Wright, said. "Dave is an option. He's done a fine job, but Super League is a very tough environment and we've got to explore all the other options."

Castleford will start next season without four of the squad who took them up. The Australians Brad Davis, Adrian Vowles and Michael Eagar are retiring, while Jon Hepworth is joining Irish rugby union side Leinster.

The Rugby League has ruled that Whitehaven's Carl Sice has no case to answer over Davis's claim that he bit him during the Grand Final.

Keith Senior is out of the Leeds team for the Super League Grand Final on Saturday with the ankle injury that forced him off during the Challenge Cup Final.

Bradford will not comment on reports they have signed Huddersfield's Stanley Gene until after the final. But his agent has revealed he has signed a two-year deal with the Bulls after failing to win an extension to his remaining year with the Giants.
