Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Nathan Brown, the Huddersfield coach, has hit back at the Catalan Dragons' criticism of his side's technique in the tackle by accusing them of trying to pressurise the referee for tonight's play-off game between the two sides at the Galpharm Stadium.
The Catalans' coach, Kevin Walters, has claimed Huddersfield follow the illegal practice of wrestling holds to slow down the game at the play-the-ball. "I'm aware of what Kevin has been saying and I'd be very disappointed if a referee as experienced as Steve Ganson was in any way influenced," Brown said. "We are a team that practises and plays to the rules."
For the play-off semi-final against the Dragons he has recalled Scott Moore and Keith Mason to his squad after a two-match club suspension for missing training after the Challenge Cup final. David Faiumu and Jamahl Lolesi are also included after injuries kept them out of last weekend's defeat at St Helens, while Jamal Fakir is back in the Dragons' plans for the game.
Castleford have released Chris Feather, Ryan Boyle and Ryan Clayton, who have all appeared in Super League this season.
Halifax qualified to meet Barrow in the Championship Grand Final on 4 October by beating Featherstone Rovers 36-30 last night.
