Your support makes all the difference.Shaun Briscoe scored all four tries in Hull's 26-18 Super League victory over Bradford on Friday night, Hull's first win at Odsal for 10 years. For the Bulls, the defending champions, the defeat was their second in three games.
The 20-year-old Briscoe demonstrated instinctive support play and decisive finishing to draw comparisons with former Wigan team-mate Kris Radlinski, after moving to Hull during the off-season.
"There are some similarities between the two," said the Hull director of rugby, Shaun McRae. "We were so fortunate to pick this kid up, it was a massive coup for us. I wouldn't argue with any comparisons with Kris Radlinski."
The England A international was pipped for the man-of-the-match award by Richard Swain, the former New Zealand Test regular. "Richard was outstanding," said McRae. "His tackle count must have been enormous. He's a very clever player and a great professional."
Bradford made a dream start with centre Shontayne Hape's ninth-minute try, while Paul Deacon touched down in the second half and took his goal tally to five from as many attempts to put his side into a 16-8 lead.
But they could never shake off their determined opposition and, with Richard Horne creating opportunities, Briscoe's finishing proved decisive.
The Bulls, who are now six points behind leaders Leeds, clearly missed their captain, Robbie Paul, and wingers Tevita Vaikona and Lesley Vainikolo. Acting captain Jamie Peacock was taken to hospital with an eye injury, while winger Karl Pryce had to have several stitches inserted in a mouth wound and scrum-half Deacon picked up a foot injury.
In addition, Kiwi international Paul is likely to be out for up to a month with an ankle injury sustained in the Anzac Test, won 37-10 by Australia.
Meanwhile, stand-off Danny McGuire continued his prolific start to the season as Leeds recorded an eighth successive win. McGuire touched down twice in the first half as the Rhinos overpowered local rivals Wakefield 36-12 at Belle Vue.
McGuire's efforts took his tally for the season to 13, while acting captain Keith Senior and Dave Furner matched his feat with two tries each of their own. Sid Domic had given the Wildcats the lead but the visitors proved far too strong as they established a club-record start for a summer season.
