Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The coaching merry-go-round on both sides of the world looks a little clearer with the news that the Canterbury Bulldogs have appointed Kevin Moore for next season. Moore, a former Halifax player, is being promoted internally to take over from Steve Folkes, with the ex-London Bronco, Jim Dymock, coming in as his assistant. That puts an end to the prospect of a candidate from Super League taking one of the NRL's big jobs.

St Helens' Daniel Anderson and Mick Potter of the Catalan Dragons were both linked with the position. Anderson is intent on returning to Australia at the end of this season and still has his hat in the ring at the Brisbane Broncos, while Potter remains the obvious favourite for the Saints job.

But Catalans are desperate to keep Potter and their president, Bernard Guasch, insisted: "We expect Mick to re-sign within the next week. Negotiations are well-advanced."

Hull have sent a deputation to Australia, hoping to sign Michael Dobson for the rest of this season.
