Agar took over as caretaker when John Kear was sacked earlier this month and Hull have won three of their four matches under him. He has now agreed a deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2008 season. That comes as he prepared to revert to assistant with the arrival of the new head coach, Peter Sharp, tomorrow. Sharp will take the reins for the match against Wigan on Sunday.
He could be followed to Hull by the Canberra hooker Simon Woolford, who has revealed that Sharp wants to take him to the club. "He's keen to have me there," the 31-year-old Woolford said. "He just needs to get over there and sort out who he's got and who he hasn't got."
Sharp's plans could hinge on whether Hull's current hooker and captain, Richard Swain, intends to play on next season. Meanwhile, Hull have loaned their utility player, Peter Lupton, to Castleford for three months.
Salford have admitted approaching Melbourne's Australian Test stand-off, Scott Hill, for next season. Hill has failed to win back his place in Melbourne's team after completing his suspension for man-handling a referee.
The St Helens coach, Daniel Anderson, has revealed that he cancelled training earlier this week because his players were too tired after their Easter programme of matches. Anderson, who has accused the game of "flogging" its players by asking them to play twice over the weekend, expects to have Francis Meli back after an ankle injury for Friday's game against Wakefield.
Harlequins' dual-code double-header at Twickenham Stoop is a sell-out. The host rugby union club are to play their final First Division match of the season against Plymouth Albion in the afternoon, followed by Harlequins RL against Huddersfield in the evening.
Leeds have agreed a two-year contract extension with the 19-year-old scrum-half, Jordan Tansey.
