Frankie Dettori increased his lead to three over Kieren Fallon yesterday in the race for the jockeys' championship. The Italian, seeking his third title and his first since 1995, landed a 11-1 double on favourites Belle Rouge and Nordwind at Goodwood, while the sole wins for the six-times champion Fallon and third-placed Seb Sanders came on Wingman and Baby Barry respectively.

Fallon also picked up a one-day suspension after finishing runner-up on Mobo-Baco and will sit out Monday, 4 October. He was found to have used his whip without giving his mount time to respond.

Coral have cut Dettori to 4-6, from 4-5, for the title, with Fallon eased to 11-10, from evens. However, Fallon has the chance to cut the deficit today as he has five rides at Pontefract while Dettori takes the day off to launch his autobiography.

JOCKEYS' CHAMPIONSHIP

Frankie Dettori 159

Kieren Fallon 156

Seb Sanders 145
