Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It was a second successive success in the race for Cumani aboard a runner trained by her father, Luca, who also saddled Reem Three to win the Daniel Prenn Royal Yorkshire Handicap later on the card.
Cumani, who completed a course at Bristol University last week, said: "The bubbly will come in very useful for a big party - my flatmates will be thrilled."
Steve Drowne teamed up with the in-form Hughie Morrison stable to land the day's main event, the £85,000 William Hill Trophy on Prince Tamino. "I think so much of this horse," Drowne said, "that I lashed out £800 to hire a plane so that I'll be able to get down to Lingfield for the evening meeting."
At Auteuil, the Nick Williams-trained Dom D'Orgeval fared best of the raiders in finishing fourth behind Mid Dancer in the Grande Course de Haies d'Auteuil, the French equivalent of the Champion Hurdle. The Arnaud Chaille-Chaille-trained winner galloped clear from Philip Carberry on Princesse D'Anjou.
