Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Their main rivals for the title, the British-based Ocean Dragon, struggled into fourth. The two teams will go head-to-head for the Championship at the final grand prix of the season in Portugal, on 30 September and 1 October.
Hunt, the only female "throttleperson'' in the series, relished the choppy waters to pull away from the rest of the field and claim maximum points, following the couple's second place in Saturday's round.
She said: "It's a fantastic win for us, and just what we needed to give ourselves a chance of winning the championship. To win here at our home grand prix, in front of our family and friends, made it even better. There was a lot of pressure on us, because we knew we couldn't afford any slip-ups. It's gone really well, and now we've everything to play for in Portugal."
The Italian team OSG Donzi joined Kerakoll at the top of the Evolution class table with a comprehensive defeat of their countrymen.
